O-Ring Chains
O-ring chains are a specialized type of roller chain designed for longer service life and reduced maintenance. They feature small rubber O-rings placed between the inner and outer chain plates. These rings create a seal that keeps lubricant inside the critical pin and bush area, while preventing dirt, dust, and other contaminants from entering.
Originally developed for motorcycles, O-ring chains are now widely used in other machinery and equipment where durability and reduced maintenance is important.

Key Features
- Sealed Lubrication
The O-rings lock in factory-applied lubrication, ensuring consistent performance and reducing the need for frequent re-lubrication. - Contaminant Protection
Dust, dirt, and moisture are kept out of the pin and bush area, preventing premature wear. - Reduced Maintenance
Ideal for applications where regular lubrication is not practical or possible. - Extended Service Life
The life of these chains is significantly greater when compared to a standard roller chain that only received its initial lubrication.
Recommended Applications
- Dirty and dusty environments
- Machinery or equipment that is difficult to access for lubrication
- Applications requiring long operating life with minimal service interruptions
Usage Caution
O-ring chains contain sealed lubricant between the pins and bushes. When handling the chain, care must be taken not to damage the O-ring. If the lubricant leaks out, the chain will wear rapidly and service life will be greatly reduced.
